About Future Links
CN Future Links is Canada’s national junior golf development program designed to "Ensure The Future Of Golf”. Conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) in partnership with the Canadian Professional Golfers’ Association (CPGA) and Canada’s provincial golf associations, the program consists of multi-level instruction and rewards, clinics, camps, support materials and special programs to raise awareness of junior golf and address the issues of accessibility and affordability. The Future Links Program at the Guelph Country Club also offers a Skill Challenge which takes place on July 16th, as well as weekly Junior Golf Leagues.
Instructional Program
This program provides basic to intermediate instruction for up to 30 boys and girls from age 6 (as of June 30, 2011) to 14 including drills, games, and contests supported by regular testing. Clubs of appropriate size are available for use by those who require them at no extra cost.
Future Links Learn to Play Schedule for 2011
Golf for 6 to 18 year olds at the Guelph Country Club in 2011. Members and non members are eligible. Classes for up to 30 new registrants and returning golfers working at Levels 1-4 who are 11 and under will emphasize skill development during meetings from 7:30 am and finish at 8:30 am with the exception of those marked with an * which will last 2 hours. The classes for up to 36 returning golfers who are 13 and under and working at Level 5 and above will focus on aspects of playing golf during meetings from 7:30 am and finish at 8:30 am with the exception of those marked with an * which will last 2 hours.
- Levels 1-4: July 5, 7, 12, 14, 20 and August 9, 11, 16, 18, 22
- Levels 5-7: July 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15 and August 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19
National Skills Challenge
Opportunities to qualify for the Skills Challenge will be held on June 3, June 17, and July 8 starting at 6:15. Participants will test themselves against standards for putting, chipping, iron accuracy, and driving distance and accuracy. A high level of performance may result in a trip to the national finals in August.
Summer Leagues
The Coe (11 and under) and Kane (12 to 14) Leagues are for girls who have passed at least Level 4 of the Learn to Play program or equivalent. Boys who have passed at least Level 4 or equivalent will play in either the Hill (– 11 and under) or Lepp (– 12-14) Leagues. All Leagues will start on May 14, 2011 at 12:30. Each league has a maximum of 20 golfers.
